1. World Rabies Day being observed today
i. The World Rabies Day is observed on 28th September (since-2007) across the world to raise awareness about the rabies disease and its preventable measures.
ii. The day also marks the anniversary of French chemist and microbiologist Louis Pasteur's death, who developed the first rabies vaccine.
iii. The theme for World Rabies Day-2016 is “Rabies: Zero by 30”.

2. 28th September: World Maritime Day
i. The World Maritime Day is being observed across the world on 28th September (last Thursday of September) to highlight the importance of shipping safety and maritime security.
ii. 2017 Theme: Connecting Ships, Ports and People
iii. This year's theme was chosen to provide an opportunity to focus on the many diverse actors involved in the shipping and logistic areas.

3. Rajnath Singh inaugurates NDMA's 13th Formation Day
i. Today, The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has inaugurated the 13th Formation Day of the National Disaster Management Authority(NDMA) in New Delhi.
ii. The theme of this year's Formation Day is School Safety.
iii. Stakeholders will discuss the roadmap, their roles, and key challenges in the implementation of the School Safety Policy across the country.
iv. States will share their experiences in terms of best practices and lessons learnt through their efforts towards school safety initiatives.

4. Commerce Ministry to set up regulatory review committee under DIPP
i. The Commerce and Industry ministry has decided to set up a review committee under the chairmanship of the Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy, and Promotion, to look into regulatory issues being faced by the industry.
ii. Earlier, the industry has raised issues related to certain laws, processes and the Goods and Services Tax.

5. Govt. sets up DPIDF worth Rs 10,881 cr to boost dairy sector
i. The union govt. has set up the Dairy Processing and Infrastructure Development Fund (DPIDF) worth Rs 10,881 crore to boost the dairy sector during the period from 2017-18 to 2028-29.
ii. DPIDF has been set up as a corpus of Rs. 8004 crores with National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
iii. 95 lakh farmers from about 50,000 villages will be benefited through DPIDF and more employment opportunities will be generated.
iv. DPIDF will enable milk cooperatives and other entities which process milk to upgrade their technology in turn directly benefitting farmers.

6. Shri Manoj Sinha launched first ever India Mobile Congress 2017
i. The Minister of Communication ‘Shri Manoj Sinha’ has launch “India Mobile Congress 2017” (Internet and Technology event in India) at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi (till 29th September).
ii. The India Mobile Congress is being organised by Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).
iii. The largest and first ever event also has the support of the other ministries like the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Skill Development and Entrepreneurship amongst others.
iv. It will be a congregation to display, discuss, unveil, imbibe, educate and recognise the importance of the global and Indian telecommunications, mobile, internet, connectivity, and digital services sector to the world.

7. Retirement age of central govt doctors raised to 65 years
i. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the enhancement of age of superannuation of doctors other than Central Health Service (CHS) doctors to 65 years (w.e.f 31st May, 2016).
ii. The decision would help in better patient care, proper academic activities in Medical colleges as also in effective implementation of National Health Programmes for delivery of health care services.
iii. The retirement age of doctors in some departments is 60 years and others 62.
iv. The doctors other than Central Health Service including doctors of other systems of Medicine of Central Government.

8. CARA launches monthly “Jan Sampark” Program to facilitate adoption
i. The Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) has started a monthly Jan Sampark program to enable the public to interact with its officials for seeking information related to adoption as well as flagging their concerns.
ii. Around 150 Prospective Adoptive Parents (PAPs), Adoptive Parents and representatives of agencies participated in the session.
iii. The event will now be a regular feature every month apart from the quarterly Facebook live chat by CEO CARA.
iv. Special needs adoption module of child adoption resource information and guidance system, as well as the newly launched Grievance/Query portal were shared with all the stakeholders.

9. Playboy founder Hugh Hefner passes away
i. An American men's lifestyle and entertainment magazine ‘Playboy’ founder ‘Hugh Hefner’(91-years) has passed away at his home.
ii. In 1953, Playboy magazine was founded by Hugh Hefner and his associates in Chicago.
iii. Hefner built a brand that defined the sexual culture of the second half of the 20th century.
iv. Playboy played an important role in the sexual revolution and remains one of the world's best-known brands, has grown into Playboy Enterprises.

10. IBBI registered National E-Governance Services Ltd as Information Utility
 i. The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) has registered National E-Governance Services Limited (NeSL) as an Information Utility (IU) under the IBBI (Information Utilities) Regulations, 2017 for five years.
Ii. With this NeSL has become the first IU registered by the IBBI.
iii. Information Utility stores financial information that helps to establish defaults as well as verify claims expeditiously and facilitates completion of transactions under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code in a time-bound manner.

11. 700 new FPIs registered with SEBI in 1st 4 months of 2017-18
i. Around 700 new foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) has been registered with capital market regulator SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) in the first four months of 2017-18.
ii. According to data from SEBI, the number of FPIs with the regulator's approval rose to 8,511 at the end of July 2017, from 7,807 at March-end.
iii. Foreign investors have also pumped in more than one lakh crore rupees into the domestic capital markets during the period under review.
iv. This includes 84,000 crore rupees in debt, and the rest in equities.

12. WADA suspends the French anti-doping lab
i. According to the World Anti-Doping Agency(WADA), It has provisionally suspended the WADA accreditation of the laboratory of the National Anti-Doping Organisation of France due to analytical issues.
ii. The provisional suspension came into effect on Sunday and prohibits the Paris Laboratory from carrying out any anti-doping activities, including all analyses of urine and blood samples.

13. WFI suspends coach Kripa Shanker Patel over objectionable social media post
i. The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has suspended coach ‘Kripa Shanker Patel’ (42-years) for an objectionable social media post.
ii. He will remain suspended till the disciplinary committee takes the final call on the write-up.
iii. Earlier in the post, Patel had expressed his ire at the WFI only partially endorsing tweaks made in wrestling rules by the international body governing it.
