1. According to Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) scientist, pests eat away about 30-35% of the annual crop yield in India.

2. India and Asian Development Bank (ADB) has signed $375 million pact for loans and grants to develop 800 km Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor.

3. India and Germany have ratified a comprehensive Social Security Agreement (SSA) to improve investment flows between the two countries.

4. The Haryana government has set up an online system called sex ratio monitoring dashboard as part of the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ Scheme to monitor the sex ratio in the Panipat district.

5. According to data released by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), India attracted $46 billion foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2016.

6. India and Bangladesh have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the sustainable development of Sylhet, a metropolitan city in northeastern Bangladesh with financial aid from India.

7. Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje inaugurated a medical project Rajasthan Heart Attack Treatment programme (RAHAT) to provide people timely treatment during heart attacks in remote and rural areas.

8.  World Bank's Chief Executive Officer Kristalina Georgieva will see the operations of the Bank-supported suburban rail system in Mumbai during her India visit starting today. 

9. Gopal Baglay, who headed the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) division dealing with Pakistan assumed charge as Ministry spokesperson.

11. Former Union Minister P Shiv Shankar passed away. He served as the Minister of External Affairs, Law, and Petroleum. He was a very influential minister in Indira Gandhi’s and Rajiv Gandhi’s cabinets and was one of the most senior politicians in the country.

12. The showbiz fairy tale “La La Land” has won leading six awards at the 89th Oscar Academy Awards. “La La Land” won awards for best actress Emma Stone, its jazz-infused songs and its Director, Damien Chazelle. The coming-of-age drama “Moonlight” won the best picture award.  Casey Affleck took the Oscar for Best Actor for his performance in “Manchester by the Sea”. Mahershala Ali won the Oscar for best supporting actor in “Moonlight”, while Viola Davis won for best supporting actress for her role in “Fences”.
