Daily GK Update 29 June 2014

1. On 29th June 2014, Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah was sworn in as the Governor of Karnataka at a function held at the Raj Bhavan. Chief Justice of the High Court of Karnataka D.H. Waghela administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Rosaiah, who will hold the additional charge of the State till a new Governor is appointed.
2. The board of directors of Axis Bank has appointed Sanjeev Kumar Gupta as Executive Director with effect from 1st September 2014. Gupta has served as a Director at Axis Securities & Sales Ltd and has worked with the State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur.
3. Dairy firm Kwality Ltd has signed an agreement with Central Bank of India for extending financial assistance to dairy farmers. Kwality Ltd has six plants in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan with processing capacity of 30 lakh litres a day. Its consolidated net sales rose by 27 per cent at Rs 5,002 crore last fiscal, while profit was up 37 per cent at Rs 144.93 crore.
4. Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal clinched title of Australian Open Super Series final in Sydney after beating Carolina Marin of Spain by 21-18, 21-11.
